Parallel Technologies hosted a Virtual Patient Observation luncheon on Monday, April 28. Roxanna Gapstur, COO, CNO, and SVP of Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, and Julie Flaschenriem, CIO of Park Nicollet Health Services, delivered the keynote address on Virtual Patient Observation and how it is working in their facilities.

There were 12 cameras on unit when Methodist Hospital began video monitoring, which has expanded now to approximately 70. Nurses and staff are overwhelmingly positive about the system and the benefit it provides to patients. On top of improving the hospital’s already impressive quality of care, an estimated cost savings of 1 million dollars in 1 year has been achieved.

Attendees were enthusiastic and engaged, asking thought provoking questons which the speakers fielded with intelligent insight. General feedback was that the information provided at this event was greatly beneficial to participants and the food was very much enjoyed as well.

Following the keynote address, attendees were shown a demo of the patient monitoring technology put together by Parallel’s Physical Security team. Viewers got to see the capabilities of video monitoring as it is utilized at Methodist Hospital and was received positively by the group.

Thank you to all who attended and also to the event speakers/presenters for making this valuable time spent.
