Parallel Technologies, an industry-leading facilities and IT infrastructure company, has promoted Tim Kittila, PE to Director of the Data Center Practice. In this role, Kittila oversees the company’s data center consulting and services to help companies with their data center, whether it is a privately-owned data center, colocation facility or a combination of the two.

“The most pressing question in the data center industry is whether to build/retrofit, co-locate or go to the cloud,” said Dale Klein, president and CEO of Parallel Technologies. “Since it is never a one-size fits all solution, Tim’s guidance, allows us to further invest in providing clients with the tools necessary to execute a data storage strategy that meets their specific needs.”

In his previous role as Director of Data Center Infrastructure Strategy, Kittila was responsible for data center design/build solutions and led the mechanical and electrical data center practice, including engineering assessments, design-build, construction project management and environmental monitoring.

Kittila joined Parallel Technologies in 2010 as a Senior Engineer for Critical Infrastructure. In this role he was responsible for the integration and development of infrastructure technology road maps for data centers.

Before joining Parallel Technologies, Kittila was vice president at Hypertect, a Minnesota-based data center infrastructure company. In this role, he worked as a mechanical designer, before becoming a professional engineer. Kittila assessed and designed several data centers. During his tenure at the firm, he grew to become an integral part of the leadership team and ultimately a firm partner. Earlier in his career, Kittila held positions supporting IT infrastructure at Chester River Hospital in Chestertown, Maryland and worked in failure analysis at ITT NightVision in Roanoke, Virginia.

A resident of Victoria, Minn, Kittila has an MBA from the Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Deleware and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He maintains a Professional Engineer license from the State of Minnesota and is accredited by the Uptime Institute as an Accredited Tier Designer. Kittila is also a member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9.
