Ruhland takes on increased responsibility within company’s physical security capability

Parallel Technologies, an industry-leading reliable data center and intelligent building solutions company, has promoted Nate Ruhland to Manager of Building Infrastructure Engineering. In his new role, Ruhland will oversee the design and delivery of physical security projects involving access control, video surveillance and intrusion.

Since joining Parallel Technologies in October 2014 as a Presales Design Engineer, Ruhland has become an integral member of the growing Security team – continually taking on greater responsibilities as the practice area expanded. As Manager of Building Infrastructure Engineering, Ruhland will be responsible for driving collaboration between sales and engineering through a focus on technology and innovation.

Reporting to Mark Bonde, director of Building Infrastructure Sales and Marketing, Ruhland will also be tasked with overseeing training and certification for members of the physical security team.

“Creating an integrated physical security strategy has a lot of moving parts that require someone who understands the complexity but can also navigate the process,” said Bonde. “Since joining Parallel, Nate (Ruhland) has consistently demonstrated a unique ability to not only manage project implementations and solve problems but to also effectively educate clients on the integration and operation of the systems. It takes a rare individual to excel at both. As we continue to grow, his abilities, skills and experience will be a key component of our success.

Prior to joining Parallel Technologies, Ruhland was a Technical Development Specialist and Systems Analyst at Milestone Systems where he designed and built servers for use in technical certification courses. He was also responsible for testing and certifying integrations between XProtect VMS products and various software and hardware partners. Earlier in his career, while with Connex (Milestone Systems’ parent company), Ruhland held various roles and responsibilities – from subject matter expert for Agent VI and Briefcam to technical software trainer, where he trained more than 500 security professionals across five continents. Following his time on the road he took on the roll of Learning Services Manager where he was responsible for creating e-learning courses related to physical security.

After receiving his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and German from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, Ruhland earned a graduate degree in German Studies from Bowling Green University. He resides in Waconia, Minn., with his wife.
