Electrical Engineer

Office Location: Eden Prairie, MN

This opportunity is with Parallel Technologies, Inc.’s Data Center engineering division.  PTI is seeking an electrical engineer with an emphasis on long term career growth to integrate into the Data Center practice.   Experience designing and building Data Center/Mission Critical facilities is a plus.  The qualified candidate will fit Parallel Technologies core values and corporate culture while working with the engineering team to assess, design-build and commission critical infrastructure for our clients.

Assessments

  • Work under the direction of an electrical PE for data center assessments – visit the site, document existing systems, identify limitations, deficiencies, single points of failure
  • Develop conceptual designs for remediation of issues identified during the assessment
  • Develop budgetary estimates to support recommendations
  • Communicate directly with the client to understand site conditions

Design

  • Work under the direction of an electrical PE to develop construction documents and progress deliverables such as schematic and detailed design drawings
  • Assist in development of electrical specifications
  • Review of equipment submittals for compliance with specifications
  • Respond to Requests For Information during construction process
  • Script commissioning plan, execute plan and prepare report of activities
  • Construction administration of projects in progress, including site visits and coordination with contractors and vendors
  • Perform circuit breaker coordination studies & arc flash analyses
  • Strong interest in such topics as utility power, transformers, generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, switchgear technology, paralleling systems, isolated redundant systems, UPS power distribution, Tier levels, Hardened Path discussion, redundancies
  • Familiarity with NEC requirements and NFPA standards is a plus

Other Responsibilities

  • Tracks and reports hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
  • Continuing education in state of the art technologies
  • Data Center Division quarterly initiatives which include personal and professional growth goals

Education/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 10-15 years of related experience
  • E.I.T. required
  • P.E. Electrical Engineer preferred, ability to sit for licensure will be considered
